SACHA HAMMERER
Client Care Coordinator
Education: Veterinary Medical Assistant Certificate
Birthplace: Vancouver, BC
What are your career goals?
To continue to work in a supportive, educational, communicative environment with like minded people, where I can expand my skills in the veterinary field and help promote Fear Free animal medicine through Silver Star Animal Care. Personally, I hope to continue to grow my homestead, where I would like to start my own small business.
What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
I love seeing the passion that my co-workers have for their jobs, and their patients. The progressive view on veterinary medicine is enlightening and motivating.
What was your childhood dream job/career?
I wanted to own my own used bookstore, to share my love of reading. Perhaps I still will one day!
If you were an animal what would you be and why?
I would want to be a bird, a Raven in particular. To be able to soar over the landscape and feel the wind in my face would be exhilarating.
What is your background and experience?
I’ve always felt more at ease with animals than humans. I have had a multitude of pets from Chinchillas to Parottlets, dogs, hamsters, frogs, fish, hamsters, chickens, and now goats! I have worked in a veterinary setting on and off since 2005, but was fortunate enough to stay home and raise my babies in between stints.
Where would we find you (when not working) on a sunny Okanagan day?
Preferably in my garden, puttering around. If not that, at the beach with my family.
What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?
Be yourself, listen well, do better than expected.
